We rent only for letterpress machines.
If you are doing a job once or twice a year it may pay to rent. If you are doing the same type of jobs on a regular basis, you are better off purchasing.
Also if you do not have the time or facilities to maintain your machines, you could be better off renting. All machines are completely disassembled, cleaned, and serviced when returned from rentals.
You, the customer, is charged for damages done to the machines.
